Anyone can print a certificate that says "officiant". We built WeddingCelebrants.com because finding the person who won't merely legalise your marriage — but genuinely narrate it — should not be luck.
Couples spend months choosing a venue and an afternoon choosing a celebrant — usually from a listings page with no quality bar at all, where "approved" means someone filled in a form.
We inverted the model. Instead of listing everyone, we maintain a tiny roster. Every celebrant here was proposed, auditioned and reference-checked before joining, and re-reviewed annually. If two couples in a row say the script felt generic, the celebrant leaves the roster.
And because ceremony is a craft with a market, we publish real data — what celebrants actually charge, what couples actually spend — so you can hire with confidence instead of guesswork.
Formal certification in ceremony writing and celebrancy — Humanists UK accreditation, or equivalent national training.
A minimum of 300 weddings performed. Volume is proof: nerves, weather, family politics — all handled before.
Current public liability insurance, plus a named professional backup for every booking.
Our panel reads three anonymised scripts blind. If none of them moves us, the application ends there.
Re-verified annually through post-wedding interviews with recent couples and their planners.
Dresses are worn once. Flowers die. The script is the only artefact of the day you'll still be quoting at your twentieth anniversary.
We publish real fee ranges and real market data, even when a smaller number would make booking easier. Trust compounds; markdowns don't.
No boilerplate, no recycled jokes, no "dearly beloved" unless you ask for it. If a script could be pasted into another wedding, it isn't finished.
One conversation is all it takes to start. We reply within one working day.
